The New Balance and Tokyo Design Studio independently designed the shoe R_C1 in 2018, combining Japanese aesthetics with century-old shoemaking craftsmanship and applying modern design concepts. The R_C1 features a new ENCAP® REVEAL midsole, which deconstructs the old ENCAP® midsole using Reveal Concept technology. Because the TPU material covering the sole is reduced, the ABZORB® cushioning technology is exposed to play its top cushioning role.
